On the western outskirts of Kyoto, Japan. Arashiyama is the mountain across the Ōi River, which forms a backdrop to the district. Arashiyama is a nationally designated Historic Site. Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is a natural forest of bamboo. The forest consists of several pathways and the Ministry of the Environment considers it a part of the soundscape of Japan.
